San Diego Ninety-Nines
The San Diego Chapter of The Ninety-Nines, Inc. is part of an international organization of women pilots that promotes advancement in aviation through education, scholarships, and mutual support. The Ninety-Nines was established in 1929 by 99 female pilots with Amelia Earhart as its first president, reflecting the pioneering spirit and courage of women aviators. The organization’s mission is to champion the role of women in aviation, providing networking, mentoring, and flight training scholarships to female pilots and those aspiring to become pilots.
The San Diego Chapter, like its parent organization, is dedicated to supporting women in their aviation careers and pursuits. It offers several scholarships specifically geared towards women in aviation residing in or connected to the San Diego region. These scholarships aim to alleviate the financial burden associated with pilot training and aviation education, helping women achieve their aviation goals, whether they are to become professional pilots, advance in their flying skills, or pursue aviation-related studies. The scholarship opportunities provided by the San Diego Ninety-Nines encompass a variety of aviation fields, including private pilot certification, advanced pilot training, and aviation technology or management degrees. Through these scholarships, the San Diego Ninety-Nines not only honor the legacy of their founders but also actively contribute to increasing the presence and success of women in the aviation industry, fostering a diverse and inclusive community of aviators.
